Revival starts tomorrow!!! I hope you have all been thinking of friends you can invite to come and hear about the amazing power of Jesus! This week it may seem a little bit harder to get your devos done, but don't be afraid or discouraged--here they are, jump right in. Have a great week guys, I love you.

No Mission Impossible
Week Two
“Afraid? Not!”

MONDAY
READ the Bible story together with your family. Look it up in the Bible!
When the people were about to enter the Promiseland, the Lord told Moses to choose twelve men, one from each tribe, to go and spy out the land. Caleb and Joshua were two of the spies that were chosen. Moses told the men to check out the people that lived there, how many there were, how well their cities were protected and what kinds of food grew in the land. They gathered information for forty days. When they returned they told Moses about everything they had seen. The land was great for farming and had large amounts of fruit. They even brought back samples. They also reported that the people who lived there looked like giants and were very strong. The cities were built strong and guarded well. Ten of the spies were afraid to go back into the land. They felt that the Israelites would be defeated. But Caleb disagreed. He felt that they would be able to successfully overtake the land. Joshua agreed with him. They were the only two who had the courage to go back. (Source: Numbers 13:1-33)

TUESDAY
REFLECT as a family on the lesson taught last weekend by referring to your child’s weekend service handout. Choose one of the ideas on the “To Do at Home” section and do it as a family or encourage your child to do it independently. If you did not receive a handout, here is an example of one of the ideas mentioned: Think of another Bible story where someone had courage. Who was it and what did he or she do?

WEDNESDAY
REQUEST a time for your family to meet together for a family prayer. Give your child an opportunity to tell you some of their prayer requests. Take time for anyone who wants to pray silently or aloud. Here is a sample closing prayer.

Dear Jesus, Help us to have the courage to face difficulties. Help us to know and understand that we cannot have courage without fear. This week we pray that you will help us try something new that we have been afraid to do, so we can put our entire trust in You. Amen

THURSDAY
REMEMBER the weekly Bible verse and take turns reciting it to each family member.
“I’ve commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged” Joshua 1:9a CEV

FRIDAY
RESPOND to what you have learned as a family this week by taking an action step! Here is an example of something you can do as a family to reinforce the Bible theme for this week: Try out a new game or a sport you haven’t played together as a family.

Devos for the first lesson of our new No: MISSION IMPOSSIBLE lessons are:

“Accepting The Challenge”

MONDAY
READ the Bible story together with your family. Look it up in the Bible!
Jesus liked to tell parables, which are stories that have a lesson to learn. He told a story about a father and his two sons. The man asked both of his sons to help out in the vineyard that the family owned. The first son refused to work, but later on he changed his mind and went out to work. The second son promised his father that he would go out and work, but he never went. Jesus then asked the people listening to the story which son did what the father wanted. They answered, “The first.” Jesus agreed. (Source: Matthew 21:28-31a MSG)

TUESDAY
REFLECT as a family on the lesson taught last weekend by referring to your child’s Discovery Class handout. Choose one of the ideas on the “To Do at Home” section and do it as a family or encourage your child to do it independently. If you did not receive a handout, here is an example of one of the ideas mentioned: Do a kind deed in secret for someone this week. For whom did you do something?

WEDNESDAY
REQUEST a time for your family to meet together for a family prayer. Give your children an opportunity to tell you some of their prayer requests. Take time for anyone who wants to pray silently or aloud. Here is a sample closing prayer.

Dear Jesus, Help us to understand that we have a responsibility in this world. Help us to understand that there are other people in this world that don’t know about you. We realize there is “No Mission Impossible” for you. This week we ask that you would give us the strength to “go” into our world and make a difference by doing a random act of kindness for someone who cannot repay us. Amen

THURSDAY
REMEMBER the weekly Bible verse, Matthew 28:19, and take turns reciting it to each family member.

FRIDAY
RESPOND to what you have learned as a family this week by taking an action step! Here is an example of something you can do as a family to reinforce the Bible theme for this week: Make plans to have an indoor picnic or go out to eat together. While you are together, talk about ways your family can serve together. A couple of ideas are by having another family over, going to visit a shut in, everyone inviting someone to Revival, or
sending to cards to special people in your lives.

Have a great week.

Hey! I went to Torrence School last week to have lunch with some of His Kids! Had a great taco lunch with corn and peanut butter bars!!! Woo-hooooo! Then it was out for some recess. Brantley was on safety patrol, and Kirbey was playing some game of kickball with your hands. . .what was that called again???? And I got to join Cassidy in a pretty good game of keep away. Nic was playing some dodgeball, and I saw Madison playing four square. Chandler was shooting hoops! Then it was time for a school assembly. His Kids from NTCC got quite a few honors. I am so proud of you guys. Brantley received a citizen ship award for the 5th grade. And there was at least one kid in each grade from our church that met their AR goals and were recognized for that, too!! WAY TO GO!!!! You are making a difference at your school! See you soon. Mz. I found this picture and wanted to post it just to remind us about the diamond of respect. Keep working on respect in your life. Can you remember the missing point. There was authority, parents, peers, property, nature and ____________________. Can you tell me Sunday which one is missing??? The more time we spend with Jesus, the more like Him we will be and will be able to show people respect and kindness in His name!!! See ya!

Monday, January 23, 2006

wow! It wasn't that long ago that we were in the middle of our Rock Solid lessons. We had a great time climbing the rock wall at camp-you guys were a super enthusiastic group. Remember this week we are learning about having an enthusiastic heart. The more time we spend we Jesus, the more He will fill our lives with joy and enthusiasm!!! We can be majorly enthusiastic about our two baptisms this week. Hope you are having a great week. See you at Kids Rock Wednesday night.

Whose room is it???? Well, this one is easy to tell, it's mine! Remember this week we will finally start "WHOSE ROOM IS IT ANYWAY?" If you want to have your room (or your child's) in our new Wednesday night game, let me know. Wanna know what the game is??? Talk to me Sundays. See Ya
Yeah!!!! I love the snow!!! I'm glad it won't last long, but I am glad it is here. Our staff went to the camp meeting for preachers and deans yesterday. Looks like another great year of camp is on the way. No matter what week you choose, you just can't go wrong. I will be there for 3rd grae overnighters in July (that is my time to dean) and mostly like Jr. 2 in July (but I won't be the dean). I always stop in at First Chance to help and play, so I will be looking forward to seeing your kids there.

Remember there is no Jr. Worship tomorrow, but we will start back up next Sunday. We hope your kids have enjoyed sitting in "big church" with you, and we hope you have enjoyed them, too!!!

Hey, please be praying for our kids. There is some tuff stuff going on out there. Have a great Saturday.
God's Best to you,
Dawn

Lighten Up!

Today seems to be the beginnning of Lighten Up Iowa! So Let's Go Teams. Our bodies are God's temple and today is the day to start spiffin the place up a bit. We will feel better and look better and have more energy to start serving in some area of HIS KIDS!!!!! Today I was exercising and doing these little squat things. You had to fold your hands when you squatted down and I thought of Luke and Kacie and their "Swatti Ka!" When you read this take a minute and pray for them and their new baby on the way. Have a great day!

Just Learning

Okey, Dokey! So I am learning how to use this blog thing. My DH, Tim, says it will help us all know what is going on. Let's prove him right!!! Now, I just have to figure out how all this technology works.
January 16, 2005

Today was a NAEIR day. I accidently seem to have ordered 100 decorative garden sprinklers instead of kid sprinklers. So our VBS will have some really nice sprinklers to give to the kids!!!!

No Jr. Worship again this week. We are doing things a little differently again, but never fear, we will be back in the swing of things on the last Sunday of the month. The kids have been doing really well in church these past weeks!!!!

Kids Rock will be fun this week. Talking about R-E-S-P-E-C-T. And Diamonds, we will be talking about diamonds--yes, they are a girls best friend--next to Jesus and her great husband!

Way to Go Crafters!! Heard the T-towels for widows are coming along great! Keep up the good work.
